BLOG GUIDELINES

Blog Values

ACCESSIBILITY
We hold ourselves to the highest possible standards of accessibility with our blog content, and this includes comments that include GIFs or Images without Image Descriptions, or Videos (or links to videos) without captions.

We recognize that many users may not have the spoons to write an image description or to caption a video, but ask that those users choose to find other means to communicate so that all of our users can access our Blog content (including the comments). Not having spoons is not an excuse for posting comments on our blog which features inaccessible content.

RESPECTING IDENTITIES
We recognize that many people within our Crip Riot community use reclaimed and/or identity-first language. We respect the use of both identity-first and person-first language on our website, and ask our users to keep this in mind when interacting with others. We respect the preferred pronouns, names, and identities of those in our Crip Riot community and expect our users to uphold these values when interacting with our blog posts.

PATIENCE
The Crip Riot community has members at different points in their journey with disability. Some may already have extensive knowledge or experience with disability, whereas others may be approaching the community for the first time. We are committed to educating each other in a way that is patient and respectful.
